Q: What are you working on now?
A: Currently, the OPE team is working on our first Health Impact Assessment (HIA). The topic is a 4 day school week. Some schools in Oklahoma are going to a 4 day school week due to budget issues. We are researching if this will impact children’s health in regards to: Juvenile Delinquency, Food Insecurity, and Academic Performance. This experience is providing our staff preparation for conducting future HIAs in the communities we serve.
Q: Everyone has a story to tell! What have you done in the past (work, life, education)?
A: My 15 year professional career has all been with the Oklahoma State Department of Health. I received my undergrad from OSU and an MPH from OUHSC. I love public health and believe in what we do every day.
Q: What are your favorite ways to use OK In the Know?
A: I enjoy going to OK In the Know to see the latest and greatest information on topics we care about. We don’t have to weed through topics; it’s all pertinent to what we do. The spotlight allows us to see what innovative things others in the state are doing to address the OHIP flagship issues.

I’m supportive of my community and providing rural areas with the same resources and opportunities as the more populated areas receive. My community is finally getting a Dollar General and it’s a big deal…our sales tax will jump exponentially.
I’m also extremely passionate about adoption.
- I’m an avid OSU fan and bleed orange.
- Some people think I look like Tina Fey.
- Golf is a favorite pastime of mine and I totally enjoy eating at cool, yummy places.
- I have an 8 year old daughter, named Kensli and she’s pretty awesome.
